Nylon for Transparency, Lycra for Elasticity

Nylon

In the evolution of industry, stockings, did not stop  with the production of nylon. the launch of  Lycra fiber that , combined with nylon, gives elasticity and a perfect fit dates back to the sixties (hence also the terms used to indicate the stockings containing elastane yarns , such as " stretch"). This is named in North America and in Australia with the term " spandex " , is a synthetic fiber made of segmented polyurethane  produced by DuPont Nemeurs and Company, one of the largest chemical companies in the world, which holds that as many other brands and patents. In summary, then, hosiery can be essentially of two types : veiled ( nylon ) and elastic ( Lycra ).

The first type has the advantage of greater transparency , more pronounced due to the thinness of the fiber. They are, in good substance , less voluminous. On the other hand, exhibit a lower adhesion to the leg , failing to follow in the best form. This is particularly visible in " hot spots" such as the ankles and knees.

Lycra tights, thanks to the prodigious elasticity of this material (think that the spandex allows the elongation of the fiber up to seven times, making it normal when return to its original size without losing elasticity, on the other hand grip allows flawless legs.

But that's not all: the greater thickness of  Lycra stockings, makes them less transparent, clearly guaranteeing them greater strength, making them more resistant. In short, they represent a weapon of women's sensuality available to women of great class. The negative side of this kind of hosiery is the risk of having stretch marks and a run in the stocking. Said that being said, Lycra tights (and more generally stockings) have long surpassed their quota of profit in terms of sales in the Italian market. it should be stated that the amount of fiber in the first spandex can vary depending on the production house . In principle, the percentage is between 8 and 15% of the total fiber used.

Helpful info here, much better than nearly all the blogs I have taken a look at on the topic of hosiery
