We know that control top hosiery are really made for the purpose of not getting those nasty pantylines at the end of the day. Pantyhose were meant to be both panties and stockings together in a single garment. The panty portion was supposed to be the panty. As the mini-skirt took off in the 1960's, more and more women preferred to wear pantyhose to prevent their stocking tops and garter-straps from showing.
As pantyhose became more and more "ala mode", numerous women started to feel a little uneasy with just the pantyhose. Some felt they were (and still feel) "naked" or "almost naked" when wearing pantyhose without panties underneath, since the panty portion is so much thinner than traditional panties. The stocking part goes up and up, blending and blurring together into a single unit, until the garment stops at the waistband. Not having elastic legs in the panty portion just doesn't make it feel like a true panty. This absence can lead to discomfort, vulnerability, and a feeling of being "half-dressed".
For those women who feel that way, Leggs sheer energy has the customized panty portion, but it is not control-top. . You shouldn't have to feel icky or naked. If you don't wear underpants beneath your pantyhose you should not have any pantylines. This comprises sheer to waist, regular panty top, shapers, and control tops. The pantyhose makers keep the transitions between the panty/control top and the rest of the sheer legs very smooth; no ridges, no bumps, no lines whatsoever. You can wear them with no panties underneath, since nothing should show.
In any case, the benefits of control top pantyhose are that they help smooth your stomach area, and in the correct size, they tend to stay up very well. But on the other hand, they some what flatten your rear, they tend to be binding at the waistband, and can be quite tightening. Unless you wear a thong, or don't wear panties at all, control top pantyhose won't really help get rid of panty lines.
Italian pantyhose are among the best you can purchase, and 8 denier is very light, and breathes well. They usually tend to be more comfortable thanks to their particular design. The only flaw I would see is that ultra sheer hosiery like that isn't as soft as hosiery around 20 denier and higher.
If it's shaping you are looking for, then by all means, get control top. But if it's comfort, I really recommend wearing a sheer to waist style, but explore other brands. A couple of brands to explore are Hanes Silk Reflections and Truform Lites 15-20 Pantyhose, with control top mild support warm in the same price range. For a little less, you can get Hanes Silk Reflections Luxury Soft-As-Cashmere Control Top Panty Hose. For much less, you can get Control Top Pantyhose Black - Adult by Music Legs.
As you can see there are control top pantyhose st every price range and style.
All that has to do with hosiery: from pantyhose and stockings to lingerie and tights

I wear control top pantyhose because the quality is marginally better–less chance of making a hole with your nail when pulling them up or down. I wear both regular and control top tights, and agree with you that the control top stay up better.
Thanks
I like to wear control tops under outfits where I want to look very smooth. Although I am quite thin
the control tops make sure that nothing jiggles.
I'll always take a pair of tan in sheer-to-waist they are very comfy and I don't need to worry about pantylines, thanks
My concern was always the “roll over” at the top of control pantyhose–but I suppose if they’re high waisted that won’t be an issue? I often feel like stuffed sausage in tights when they’re snug and thought control top would make it worse. I’m inspired to give it a try
