The difference between Pantyhose and Tights

Pantyhose and TightsA number of women at this time still do not know the difference between pantyhose and tights.

Pantyhose are sheer stockings that go up the waist nevertheless they make low rise pantyhose if you want to dress in something that shows the abs. The label pantyhose implies that there is a pant build in the stockings so it is not demanded you wear underpants, however be sure that the hose contains a cotton crotch. These would be recommended wearing with peep toes, high heels and slingbacks. If you wear slingbacks the strap could very well slide up an down the heel, causing irritation on the stocking or your heel. Pantyhose are sported during on more dressy, evening occasions. In some cases women wear them due to the fact that they have little support and warmth and can easily be worn under pants or jeans.

Tights are knit stockings that go up to the waist. Typically you wear underwear with them. They tend to be thick and opaque, heavier knits (cable), or lacy knits. The heavier knit would look good with pumps or heeled-loafers. Tights are normally warmer than pantyhose and worn for daytime or to make look learn more towards casual. Many types of them do have support, but a great number do not. The lacy or opened pattern can be worn at night and are quite sexy. Thick knit tights make your legs look a little heavier than they in reality are.

Pantyhose tend to be sheer sheer while tights are more opaque. Stockings are measured in Deniers. The lower the denier, the finer the yarn, the more sheer the stockings. The higher the denier, the more opaque the hosiery. Opaque tights also are heavier and warmer.

Pantyhose are typically for a dressier outfit, they are thinner than tights. On the contrary, tights are thicker and have more support. Tights come in multiple colors for example black, red, white, grey. Pantyhose, however, are commonly sheer and come in neutral colors like black, brown and nude.

In situations when you are donning a cocktail attire, then tights are too casual. But for almost every other occasion, tights can be donned. A dark opaque tight can look stylish with a pencil skirt and boot. A patterned tight will add fascination to a dress, skirt or pump.

The benefit of wearing tights is that they are warmer, will usually work as shape-wear and give a more toned silhouette than pantyhose. The latter, however, are still the dressier option. I am not a fan of dark tights and light colored shoes, however. If you wear a light-colored shoe, I suggest you opt for nude hose.

Summarizing, the particular that sets pantyhose and tights  apart is the thickness of their fabric. Just anything that is equal or less than 40 denier is known as pantyhose and those over 40 denier is called tights. This lower density gives the pantyhose a sheer nature.

However in the British market, both pantyhose and tights designate the same thing. Pantyhose are not used without wearing anything over it nonetheless you could very well not need to wear anything over tights. Also pantyhose have an association with lingerie while the tights make you think of ballet dancing.
