All that could be said about vintage stockings is they cause you to feel a whole lot more feminine, just like a lady. Also, they make your legs seem longer. More often than not, they are simply just Sexy. Some women use them without any panties. Some even prefer wearing a garter belt and thigh-high hose along with the lace at the very top over pantyhose. However they are silk and over-priced, so i only put them on besides at work. For work, I as a rule wear pantyhose, since they cost less to replace.
I wish to start dressing in vintage 1950's clothes regularly. I am aware women did wear pants in the 50's, but it was only for doing housework or to outdoor stuff like picnics, camping, etc. Generally, after you left your own home, you wore a dress. I did previously always wear pants and jeans, but got tired with it, I wish to be feminine and elegant and I would like to be completely vintage, therefore it is skirts and dresses like crazy I reckon. I should also wear garter belts, girdles and stockings repeatedly, similar to ladies did in the 50's. Hats and white gloves, too!.
Vintage nylon stockings are quite sexy and alluring. I often tell hubby since we are married that it will be helpful and even more exciting if he was "with it" just as much as I am. He never complains about my huge assortment of nylons and shoes as he thinks its all sexy. He always compliments me and my legs for looking good.
I was thinking of developing my vintage wardrobe because I would like to eventually dress completely vintage. I'm set on looking totally period authentic so I would like to wear the underwear and hosiery of that time period, too. I'm on the lookout for open bottom girdles with garters, fully fashioned seamed nylons, slips and bullet bras.
My girlfriend Mia is known as a vintage fanatic. Her favorite fashion eras tend to be the 1940's via the early 1950's and she likes wearing vintage hosiery, or vintage styled clothes every time she can. Virtually all her dresses, skirts, blouses, shoes, accessories, hair, makeup, even foundation garments and hosiery (Yes, she does wear a bullet bra, girdle and stockings practically daily!) are vintage or retro.
I wish to start dressing in vintage clothes like Mia does, and wear seamed stockings (real stockings which you are required a garter belt to hold up, not pantyhose). I have found that an open bottom girdle with 6 garter straps is better for holding your stockings constantly in place and thus, keeping those seams perfectly straight. Generally, the more garter straps, so much the better, but you really never require more than six. Should you wish to wear a garter belt instead, there are plenty of vintage and retro styles available which have 6 garter straps. These are good, but since a girdle will have shorter straps, there's less sliding around of the straps against your legs whilst your stockings stay more secure, which means straighter seams.
Currently, I'm looking to get there.I do wear skirts and dresses all the time, a few are vintage, but the majority aren't. I do love the appearance, though. Ladies were much more modest and feminine in those days. I've also recently traded wearing pantyhose for stockings and garter belts instead and am considering getting a few girdles also. So maybe I'm in the act of gradually shifting my wardrobe to all vintage. We'll see, I'm assuming.
All that has to do with hosiery: from pantyhose and stockings to lingerie and tights
