The Appropriate Hosiery code For Work and When you are out of Work

If you plan to wear skirts during the summer months, don't forget about hosiery. In professional settings, hosiery is mandatory with skirts, and the rule of thumb is to wear nylons that are skin color or darker. Hose should match up with your outfit and your shoes.

During the warmer months of the year, it's all right to reduce your hosiery denier, regardless of the color of your shoes. Buff-colored (not quite nude but far lighter than cream) is a good staple to have in your wardrobe.

Some companies make hosiery concessions for summer, but with particular restrictions. For instance, if hosiery is not worn, women must wear pants, long skirts, or knee-length (or longer) short skirts (no above-the-knee lengths). Without these qualifications, shorts may as well be permissible, mainly when a woman is sitting.

Even nowadays, bare legs are not considered professional in most business environments. The resourceful industries are sometimes the exception, such as the beauty, fashion, art, theater, and advertising industries.

I work for an extremely conservative financial institution and our dress code requires us to wear hose with skirts and dresses. This requires closed-toe shoes even though the dress code allows for peep-toe shoes. To make the dress code even more of a challenge, I live in South Texas where average temperature in the summer months is over 100 degrees. So, what to do? Nude hose? Patterned hose?

When summer is upon us (that means hot breezes) and you are out of work, flowery dresses and sandals. Temperatures may be rising but that doesn’t mean opting for hosiery that makes you hot. With Secret’s Summer Cool, you can look fashionably fresh no matter how many degrees the thermometer chooses to climb. These weather-proof thigh-highs are the perfect summer accessory; not only do they make your legs look fabulous, but they won’t stick to you and best of all, they’re toeless!

Secret’s Summer Cool thigh highs feature an original toeless design that is entirely adapted to summer’s sweltering months. A loop of fabric fits comfortably over the big toe, keeping the hose in place while showcasing your pretty pedicured toes. Summer Cool comes in both control top pantyhose and thigh highs (which I have and I love). The hose is offered in a single shade, Summer Nude, which makes legs look long and lean while providing just a dash of barely there color.

Keep away from wearing navy; buff or very light hosiery with dark shoes. Wearing white and cream hosiery with navy shoes, for example, will make you look like a nurse! White hosiery is a bit dated: buff is a far better choice. If you really want to wear navy hosiery with your navy shoes, choose a sheer navy as opposed to a darker shade. Steer clear of opaque hose (tights) in the warmer months.
